It has been a minute since I have sent out a little update here for the Spicy Elixir Insiders. Well the update is simple…..it's been a very busy but fruitful market season so far. We have had very little out of stocks this summer since we opened the Elixir Spice Factory officially this year. What out of stocks we have had have been quickly remedied by the amazing Elixir production team.
We have really enjoyed our first season at the Fairwood Market on Tuesdays 3pm to 7pm up at 319 W. Hastings Rd. We have met a ton of new fans and have also been lucky enough to see some familiar faces like our friends at Fizzie Mulligans who send us a lot of business as they sample their regulars on tacos Tuesdays from their stock of Elixir Garlic Fresno and Rum Honey Habanero. We have also made some really cool new vendor friends like Coconut Eze whose coconut cookies and coconut creme cold brew are equal parts delicious and inspiring.
Another new market for us this season has been the Thursday Market 3pm to 7pm in Grant Park on 10th and Perry street. This again has brought us new customers and old customers and like their motto “always good times”. The park is always bustling with young families recreating and the neighborhood definitely comes out every week. We have really enjoyed re-connecting with the amazing staff at the South Perry Lantern and getting to know the staff at The Shop nearby, their coffees have definitely been the fuel on some of these weeks.
The last thing I wanted to say was that we have been through a lot as a community lately. and through all of the sadness and devastation that our recent fires have brought, the community coming together to feed both the fire teams and those displaced has been so encouraging and heart warming. Our friends at HAPA Hawaiian grill and Vern Cooks and a long list of other small food businesses put in some really long hours these last few weeks feeding fire teams and the displaced victims while also running their small businesses and to see the way they let their hearts lead them in this way was incredibly inspiring.
